The Terror
The sheer blind terror - Of hitting a wallThen the walls close in - And there’s nowhere to turn
The cold clenched fist - Of the twist in your gut
The sickening sweat - And the trembling breath
The desperate longing - The hollow, the void
The pleading for mercy - The pleading for death
The yearning the burning - The tipping and falling
Clammy seized and solid - The biting bitter sinking
Flooding tears aches flashing
Colours born and dying twisted
Beaten battered broken thrown
Spent and dropped
Deepest pain
The brink and depths - the silver thread
The mind and numb - the shoulders torn
The bashing banging head hurts thumping - tension mounting overwhelming
The edge the very edge - the pinpoint pricking apex.
The razor’s edge
Unending and impossible
